Mr. Food: Tangy Grilling

We're spending a lot of time in the great outdoors grilling our favorites, and that sunshine, yeah, it sure feels good! So why not add a splash of sunny taste to our food? Here's how!

Using any brands at all, in a large, re-sealable plastic storage bag we combine 1/2 cup each of olive oil and fresh orange juice, 1/4 cup soy sauce, the grated peel of an orange, a minced garlic clove or two, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper.

Now, what we do is we place 4 eight-ounce boneless beef loin strip steaks in the bag, we seal it and give it a good shake to coat the steaks. Now we let that marinate in the fridge for about 3 hours, turning it once in a while, and when we're ready to grill them, we remove 'em from the bag and discard the marinade.

We cook them on a medium-high heat for 5 to 6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer, you know, to our desired doneness. Now, for more excitement? If we want, we could cut up 1/2-inch slices of oranges, throw them on the hot grill for a moment or two, to get some grill marks, and then serve 'em as a sunny garnish alongside our juicy, full-flavored steak, and everybody's taste buds will come alive!
