Florida A&M University Fires Head Football Coach Billy Joe

It’s the end of the line for Coach Billy Joe at FAMU. School officials say they've fired Coach Joe for a violation of NCAA a rules.

Interim University Athletic Director Newton Jackson held a news conference Tuesday afternoon. The line comes from the school: “Coach Joe was fired for a violation of NCAA rules.”

The university disclosed last summer that it had violated the rules when several players were allowed to play even though they were ineligible because of a lack of credits.

Joe was 86 and 46 in 11 seasons at FAMU. His Rattlers won the Black College National Title in 1998.
