Tallahassee, Florida - August 12, 2012
Florida Highway Patrol says a woman charged with driving on an expired license hit a pedestrian at 11:52 last night in Leon County.
25-year-old Noel Gonzalez was standing at the intersection of Woodlane Circle.
33-year-old Angela Wright was driving north on SR 263, approaching the intersection.
There were no street lights in the area.
FHP says the front of Wright's 1995 Nissan struck Gonzalez.
Gonzalez came to final rest 29 feet north of Wright's final rest position in the northbound lane of SR 263.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Gonzalez was apparently talking on a cell phone at the time of impact with Wright's car.
According to FHP, there was alcohol in his system. He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital by Leon EMS in critical condition.
According to FHP, Wright, the driver, was transported to Tallahassee Regional Hospital by family with minor injuries. The passenger of Wright's car, 31-year-old Melissa Hinson, was not transported and suffered no injuries. According to FHP, alcohol was not related. Her license was less than 6 months expired.
