City officials in Perry confirm that the victim of last night’s crash was the daughter of former Perry Mayor, Emily Ketring. Ketring served two four year terms as Mayor, which ended last month (August 2012). She is also the head of the Boys and Girls Club in Perry.
City official Penny Staffney says, “We are all grieved and shocked and hurting for her. It’s a small town and we are all like family and we’re all just devastated”.

A fatal 2-car accident occurred last night, September 16th, at 9:20 pm in Taylor County, Florida.
The incident occurred at the "T" intersection of Morgan Whiddon Road and Johnson Stripling Road.
James Harrison Hatcher, age 19 of Perry, Florida was driving a 2007 Reno Suzuki, with front seat passenger, Angel Ketring, 15, of Perry. In the back seat was Cody Yelverton, 17, of Perry.
Ketring is now deceased. Hatcher and Yelverton were listed in Serious condition at Doctors Memorial Hospital.
A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was also involved. The driver's name is Reuben Mendoza, 26, of Lake City. There was a front seat passenger, Monica Porter, 24, of Perry. She was listed in Serious condition at Doctors Memorial Hospital. There were three people in the back seat: Kyle Mixon, 22; Edward Porter, 22; and Sierra Sasher, 18, all from Perry.
Sasher was taken to Doctors Memorial, listed in Serious condition. Porter was also taken there, he was listed with minor injuries. Mixon had no reported injuries.
The Reno was traveling west on Morgan Whiddon Road approaching Johnson Stripling Road and a posted stop sign. The Silverado was traveling south on Johnson Stripling Road approaching Morgan Whiddon Road. For unknown reasons the Reno became an immediate hazard to the Silverado in the southbound lane of Johnson Stripling Road. The front of the Silverado collided with the right passenger side of the Reno. Both vehicles came to final rest on the west shoulder of Johnson Stripling Road south of the area of collision.
Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by the Taylor County Sheriff's Department and Taylor County Emergency Services.
