Nearly 100 students from the 1950s returned to their old stomping ground to mark a milestone and rekindle old friendships.
Fifty years and still going strong, students of FAMU High, Griffin High and Lincoln High's class of 1955 gathered for a picnic to celebrate a milestone.
Committee member Augustus Colson said, "It's a tradition event that happens with all reunions. They spend Saturday picnic and food, frolic, and fun, that kind of thing."
But this is no ordinary class reunion. Organizers say these three schools were the first in the state of Florida to hold their baccalaureate services together, and ever since that day the three schools have come together like one.
"Well, it was good to come back to see everybody I haven't seen, some for 50 years, some for 25 years. Some I recognize, some I don't, but it's fun and good. I'm enjoying myself," shared Bessie Henderson of the class of 1955.
The 50th class reunion brought almost 100 students back to Leon County from New York to Philadelphia and everywhere in between; these students were happy to see one another.
"I'm very excited in seeing all my classmates I had not seen in about 45 years," added Elton Jeffrey.
Despite 50 years apart from each other, these class members come together and catch up on old times.
Students with the reunion say they will keep in touch and hope to get together again.
