A local university receives the grand prize in a competition that tested student and faculty talent and creativity.
Thomas University won first place after developing a public service announcement for television and radio for the Georgia 529 Savings Plan.
Two business classes at the university worked on the PSA and students say the idea behind the commercial was simple: encourage parents to start saving money for college now.
Dr. Jenny Swearingen, assistant professor at TU, says, "It shows the value of our programs here at Thomas University. I think it shows that we have very talented students and also very dedicated faculty that want to take learning to a new level."
The Public Service Announcement will air throughout Georgia as part of the college savings plan campaign.
