Mr. Food: Tangy Cole Slaw

It’s summertime! That means cool drinks on the porch, lounging in the hammock, and lots of relaxing, right? Don't we wish! The reality? With our hectic schedules, we don't have a lot of time in the kitchen, so here's a tasty twist on a favorite summer go-along that will add some spark to our next picnic or patio party!

In a large bowl, we toss together half a head of green, and half a head of red cabbage that we shredded, 2 large seeded and diced cucumbers, 1 finely chopped onion, and 1 drained can of whole-kernel corn.

In a small bowl, we combine 1/2 cup each of olive oil and apple cider vinegar, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1-1/2 teaspoons salt.

Toss that mixture in with the cabbage and it's ready to serve, or you can chill it in the fridge for later! And if you'd like, you can go through your veggie bin, and make your slaw your very own, by substituting some of your other favorite crunchies like peppers or carrots, and yes, you can use shredded, bagged cabbage if you want, it will work fine.
Either way, there are no rules!

You see, it's the apple cider that makes it so special! And when we serve this tangy dish with anything from a hot-off-the-grill favorite to a cold picnic bring-along, are we in for a treat!
