Rita Heads Toward Texas

A dangerous category five storm is moving at about 13 miles an hour, which may be just slightly slower than the columns of traffic trying to evacuate out of the Galveston area Wednesday night.

The government is rushing hospital beds, rescue teams and evacuation buses to Texas.

President Bush pledges to be "ready for the worst”, declaring a state of emergency in Texas and Louisiana, encouraging the public to comply with mandatory evacuation orders.
