Mascot Destroyed: Teens Face Felony Charges

It's now a casualty of a fierce inter-city rivalry. This is all that's left of that famous lion. Its head and hide are history. Deputies say three Lincoln High School fans stole it off a trailer parked in Principal Rocky Hanna's driveway and wound up using it as campfire fodder at a party a few days later.

"They saw the lion in the neighborhood and thought it would be funny to take it, paint it up and bring it back during the Lincoln-Leon rivalry week, and apparently those plans went south on Saturday night at a juvenile party."

The teens, two Lincoln students and one former student, are facing felony charges of criminal mischief and grand theft for the prank. The school says there will be no resurrecting this once furry feline. They're looking to buy a new mascot.
