The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is recommending mandatory safety training for anyone applying for a motorcycle license.
With more people riding than ever before, Gov. Jeb Bush says it's important for bikers to understand the basics of motorcycle safety.
“The folks that take the education test have not died. The people who have taken the test haven’t died, so I think there’s a lot of new motorcyclists there’s been a dramatic increase in the number of new motorcycle riders.”
The agency is also asking the state Legislature to pass a new law requiring motorcyclists to carry $50,000 worth of insurance coverage.
