The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce says it has hired two outside agencies to conduct a study to see if combining the two districts would benefit the community economically.
The chamber lunched today with the Valdosta Rotary Club to talk about the study and why it feels with the growth of the area, it's necessary to look at combining the schools.
"We want to make sure that we're able to remove whatever impediments might be in the way to better jobs and certainly quality education in Valdosta and Lowndes County," says Leroy Butler who is on the Chamber's Task Force.
The Lowndes County school district is anxiously waiting for the results of the study which are expected to be completed by September.
