Few tastes say "home" more than a warm, melty grilled cheese sandwich; so simple, yet so welcoming. Well, we've got the ultimate one for all you grilled cheese lovers, and it's got triple the taste!
In a bowl we beat 3/4 cup mayonnaise along with a 3-ounce package of softened cream cheese till the mixture is light and fluffy. We stir in 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and 1 cup each of shredded Cheddar and shredded mozzarella cheese. Spread each of 5 slices of sourdough bread evenly with the mixture and top each with another bread slice.
Spread some softened butter on each side and, in a skillet over medium heat, we cook 'em in batches till they're golden and the cheese is melty, and they're ready! Of course, if we want, we can use another hearty type of bread, maybe a country white or multi-grain or potato bread, rye bread, whatever, and maybe try mixing and matching some of the shredded cheese blends.
Any way at all, when they sink their teeth into the creamy contrast of those cheese varieties… mmm mmm!
