It was more than a year ago that Harry Jones was in court seeking a new trial. Jones has been on death row 13 years for the 1991 murder of George Young.
Jones was caught after crashing Young's truck in June of '91. Deputies later discovered Young had given Jones a ride home from a west side liquor store.
Jones was convicted of beating and drowning Young that same night at a north side plantation.
Jones wanted a new trial, saying his first lawyer was ineffective, but Judge William Gary denied the request.
