The proposed pool would have looked similar to the Trousdale Aquatic Center in Tallahassee, but funding and location weighed against the project.
Some believe building a pool is untimely when the county has dirt roads to pave and parks to clean up.
Pam Portwood, Wakulla County Grants Coordinator, says, “They got word from other areas that it's expensive and we're trying to tighten the belt, keep the budget down. It's really bad timing.”
The pool would have been located near the county's only high school on Highway 98.
