Monday the Florida Department of Law Enforcement booted up a new computer database called Janus-Justice Exchange.
Investigators can now search all of Florida's jails for a particular suspect, witness, or warrant subject.
In the past that would mean a call to each of Florida's 67 county jails.
Tom Berlinger of FDLE says, "All too often our investigators have found that you find out only too late that someone has been arrested and has booked through and gone out and its someone that you really should have and could have your hands on but weren't able to do so because you didn't know they were arrested in the county 10 counties away from where you're at."
The database will even notify investigators when a particular person is booked.
