The Rose City is known for its historic downtown, and now a new project aims at making it even more beautiful.
The Streetscape Project's goal is to beautify downtown by placing bronze sculptures of animals indigenous to the area along the downtown sidewalks.
So far Liberty the Dog has been placed on Broad Street and Ollie the Otter is awaiting a home.
Felicia Brannen with the Main Street Program says, "We want people to come to downtown, and the sculpture is going to be child friendly. The dog, now you know, is life size and the children have been climbing on it. It's to get people into our downtown and to enjoy what's here."
The Main Street Program is working on getting two more animals placed in the downtown area. They encourage residents to stop by, look in catalogs and help choose future animals and donate to the project.
