Gathered around small school desk, local and state leaders toss around plans for a southside satellite senior center. At the heart of the discussion is Wesson Elementary School.
So comes the idea to transform Wesson into a senior center, bringing together several services, services that are currently scattered throughout the southside.
The plans call for a senior center that would bridge generation gaps in a community where grandparents are raising their grandchildren.
But the school district would have to keep some sort of string attached to the building because projecting student growth and class size for the next five to ten years can be tricky.
After Thursday’s meeting, the city, county, and school district will discuss legally how to transition Wesson Elementary into a senior center.
