A man is behind bars, accused of stabbing two people to death in Valdosta, and police think the attack may have been the end result of a domestic dispute.
The quiet home on J.L. Lomax Drive in Valdosta was filled with a violent attack Wednesday night. Police say 59-year-old Robert Gordon stabbed two people to death: 36-year-old Windell Williams and her 64-year-old stepfather, Ralph Graham.
Brian K. Childress, Valdosta police spokesman, says, "I can tell you right now that he has been charged with two counts of murder. We have detectives who say he was the ex-boyfriend of the female that died, and we've also recovered the murder weapon."
Investigators say Gordon actually flagged them down and admitted to the stabbings.
People living along the stretch of J.L. Lomax Drive say the stabbing, which took place in the house, really scared them, but right now they're just glad the man accused of the crime has been arrested and remains behind bars.
Stephanie Sapp, a neighbor, says, "Of course I want him to pay for what he did. He took two people's lives. A mother is going through pain, the family is suffering. I'm right here next door, I can't hardly rest."
Law officers do have a warning for anyone else who suddenly finds his or her life in danger of attack.
Childress adds, "If you're in a situation where someone pulls a weapon out and you can get away, you need to run. Then call 9-1-1. The issue here is we want your safety to be paramount."
Investigators believe the woman, Windell Williams, had a relationship at one point with her attacker, but it’s not known what led to this attack.
