Stolen Artifacts

Former pharmacy owners are asking for help tracking down pieces of stolen furniture that are a part of Tallahassee’s black history.

Priscilla Hawkins, who is putting together a collection of memorabilia from Baker's Pharmacy, says a shelving unit and a stand were taken from the Allen Shannon Flea Market just a few days ago.

"Both those units are significant because the white piece which is similar to this one is part of the shelving that was in the back of the pharmacist actually had medication on," she said.

Baker's Pharmacy, one of the first black owned pharmacies in Leon County was demolished in January.

Many of the items from historic pharmacy will soon be on display in a Blacks in Medicine museum.
