With celebration and cheers, it was a night to remember. Harold Flake and Kimberly Brown are possibly the happiest students on FAMU’s campus.
"I'm extremely excited to actually step into my position and be crowned Miss Florida A&M University. I got a chance to see my line sisters, my family and friends came out and support me. It was a really touching event," said Kimberly Brown.
The coronation is a long-standing tradition at FAMU crowning two students that exemplify leadership and service.
"One word that would describe our King and Queen this year is passionate. They are passionate about FAMU, about the community and they are passionate about helping people," said student body president Raman Alexander.
Last year's Miss FAMU, Brooke Smith, says it’s not easy to win the title.
"You have to produce a good work ethic; you have to be of high moral standards. You have to have character and developmental skills, but most important you have to have a love and dedication to not just yourself but Florida agricultural and mechanical university."
To exemplify their service, the winners are giving back. They're donating toys to children in Frenchtown.
