FAMU's homecoming has quite a distinguished alumnus "coming home" this weekend.

Dr. Lesalle Leffall was greeted with a warm welcome from former teachers, colleagues and fans. Leffall was the first African-American president of the American Cancer Society.

The Quincy native says things haven't changed too much on the "hill."

Leffall says, "It's wonderful to be here in the gym when the band started to play, sort of reminded me of 1945. We didn't have a band like that in 1945, but think the same kind of enthusiasm and spirit is evident. People are really getting ready for homecoming."

Leffall just published his autobiography "No Boundaries: A Cancer Surgeon's Odyssey.” The medical spokesman says his primary focus has been to bring attention to the disparities between blacks and whites in terms of cancer.
