Ten Tallahassee Police officers and 11 Leon County Sheriff's deputies packed up Wednesday morning. They're headed to Hancock County to relieve fellow officers who've been there for the past week, doing everything from search and rescue to arresting dozens of looters.
"People are really distraught over there; people have lost their homes; they're homeless, and in some instances, they didn't have any food. So we're expecting a real challenge once we get over there."
"We know it's been hard with the circumstances, but like I said, they're doing the best they can and God willing, they'll get home, be safe and get back to their families."
The agencies will continue to send relief teams until local officers are back up to speed. Two EMTs also joined Wednesday’s caravan.
