A community takes time to remember one of its own.
This past Wednesday, 33-year-old Sylvester Davis, Jr. was found shot to death in his home. Those who knew him best dedicated a festival in his honor.
Every year around Halloween the Dade Street Community Center, where Davis was assistant director, puts on a fall festival for the children.
This year's festival was dedicated to Davis, whom many of the children thought of as a father figure. In the past, Davis was said to have come out of his own pocket to make sure the festival went on.
Student Leroy White remembers his mentor.
"To me, Mr. Davis would always help me in school and keep me out of trouble. If anything goes wrong he was always on my case. Anything I needed, I was there to talk to him for support or help," expresses White.
Right now there is no official word on funeral arrangements, and there are still no strong leads or suspects named.
