Free Halloween Carnival

This year the carnival will feature a haunted house and many outdoor activities.

Mixed among all the frights will also be plenty of free candy for the trick or treaters.

Department leaders say this is the best way to make sure kids have a safe Halloween.

J.D. Yeager of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office says, "It’s not costing the taxpayers anything. What we're doing is taking a negative, which is the drug money that we seize and use it to help put on this carnival. We get donations from the community, and a lot of in-kind donations."

The free Halloween event will take place Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. in the field next door to the Lowndes County Jail.
