Church Family Adopts Evacuee Family

Families and churches are opening their doors and homes to many evacuees struggling to get by in Tallahassee.

Pictures and some clothing are the only things left of the Janeau's old life in New Orleans.

But thanks to the Unity Church of Tallahassee, this family is getting the chance to start over.

The Janeau's ended up in Tallahassee by chance. The family had planned to travel west towards Texas, but were forced to travel east. They say Tallahassee has been a blessing.

Minister Williams says adopting a family helps the community walk their talk and helps the Janeau's get a fresh start.

Members of many local groups are opening their homes to evacuees and Thursday, the Red Cross did open an expanded service center, which is giving evacuees spending money and a 14 day motel voucher.
