Before the touchdowns and field goals, Florida State University paid honor to one of their own.
There was a moment of silence Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell Stadium to honor 44-year-old COL William Wood, the highest-ranking U.S. soldier killed in Iraq since the 2003 invasion.
Witnesses say COL Wood was trying to save another soldier when a bomb went off and killed him. He completed the Army ROTC program at Florida State and graduated with a degree in political science.
