FEMA is buying 1,000 temporary houses from Thomasville's Stewart Park Homes.
Company directors say they hope to soon be producing up to 10 houses a day.
Stewart Park Homes say they're more than doubling the size of their current staff to meet the order.
Mark Williams, the director, says, "Obviously it's good for business, but to us and our organization, the owners of our company, we feel that the Lord has put us here to kind of stand in the gap and provide housing for these individuals, so we feel that it goes beyond business; it's also a moral obligation."
Some local residents are also spearheading a campaign to furnish and outfit each home that leaves the Thomasville plant.
