The Leon County Commission is going ahead with a $1.6 million agreement, most of which will help build a corporate headquarters for Danfoss Turbocor at Innovation Park.
It could bring as many as 150 jobs in its first three years. The city must now approve its side of the deal. Also, Tuesday night the planning department asked to come up with an amendment to the comprehensive plan that addresses how local governments should handle property acquired for future parks.
Several controversies ignited the issue, including concerns from people that the city of Tallahassee might sell parts of the Northwest Park Property. The city says it has no plans to do so, and finally from Tuesday's Leon County Commission meeting: signs and billboards and where they should go.
The first of two public hearings to debate any changes to the county's sign code. At issue is should the county allow more off-site advertising, and will we ever see those revolving billboards in Leon County? Staff thinks so. The final hearing is scheduled for next month.
