Now that its focus has turned from meeting the families’ immediate needs, it's time to look at their long-term needs.
The Capital Area Red Cross chapter has formed the “capital area recovery initiative.”
Many of the displaced families are looking to become a permanent part of our community and the initiative will help them along the way, even it's only for just a few months.
Chris Floyd of the Capital Area Red Cross says, "We'll have individuals from the health care field, the child care field, the housing field to work on developing a plan by which we can refer various individuals and families to different averages who will be able to meet some of the long-term needs."
The team will meet for the first time Thursday.
