Big Money for Local College

The Tallahassee Community College Foundation is receiving $100,000 from Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist.

The money, which comes from a settlement between the attorney general's office and two eye care companies, will be used to help build the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute at Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy.

Marjorie Turnbull, the executive director for Tallahassee Community College, says, "I think it represents the fact that our attorney general understands how important Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy is, not just to our local law enforcement, but to the 14 state agencies we train out there."

When completed the institute will train state police chiefs, sheriffs and public defenders.
