Leon County Sheriffs say they've noticed an increase of robberies where a higher concentration of Hispanic residents live in Tallahassee.

They say there's been a string of robberies along West Tennessee Street, Blountstown Highway and Lake Bradford within the past several months.

"It seems to be that these people are being targeted because the robbers believe these people are illegal immigrants and won't report it. In fact, a lot of these people are just hard working people, just regular U.S. citizens that don't speak a lot of English," says Sergeant Steve Norville pf the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Sergeant Norville says that residents should remember to look out a window or peephole before opening the door.

He says if residents are concerned about their safety, they should call the Leon County Sheriff's Office at 850-922-3300.

They just said these people have jobs, how cna you have no pitty on another regular american trying to make a living. The reason these people are being targeted is because they are not from here origonally. I believe that young american kids try to commit these crimes against these individuals because they are not born and raised here. I don't beleive it has nothing to do with how well they speak english. People just don't want them here which ,is sad because they are trying to make a better life here than they could if they were in they're own coutry. We can provide better stability for them.

I have a hard time believing that most of these people are legal to begin with...or is our police believe what they are told or looking at illegal documents...and if they are legal and maybe if they learned the language...they wouldnt have to live in deplorable conditions...or they can go back to thier place of origins and live there.
