The FDLE data base went online Friday. It allows school districts to log on and see if a contractor has already had a background check done in another county.
That should save time and money, especially for companies that work in more than one school district.
The data base was created in the wake of the Jessica Lunsford Act, which aims to keep sexual offenders off school grounds.
But each school district still makes its own decision about what crimes will disqualify someone from working on campus.
