Nutty Squirrels

That's right, every fall residents call Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to report squirrels acting crazy.

The squirrels jump in the air, roll on the ground, and act as if something's wrong.

But they're not crazy-they're simply playing host to a parasite that's uncomfortable, not fatal.

Larvae have entered their bodies. It's most abundant in gray squirrels during late summer and fall.

Biologists say there is no danger to pets or humans.

Eventually the larvae will emerge and the squirrels will continue to go about the business of being squirrels.
