Women killed at the hands of violence will be remembered Wednesday evening. The event is in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Refuge House Executive Director Meg Baldwin says the organization has helped many women safely leave abusive partners. However, she says domestic violence stats are steady.
"I'm sorry to say it's an unacceptably high rate. We're still seeing stats of one in four women, one in three women assaulted by an intimate partner during her lifetime."
The candlelight vigil will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake Ella. Survivors will also be honored. For women seeking help, here's the refuge house hotline, 1-800-500-1119.
