Bush Laments Over Lack of Diversity

The legislature authorized 55 new judgeships last spring to ease crowded court dockets across the state.

But the governor says generally speaking, the judicial nominating commission is not giving him a very diverse group of candidates from which to choose.

Gov. Jeb Bush, (R) Florida, said, “You know, they could do better. In some places, there’s been a major effort to provide a diverse slate of candidates. In others, it’s clear that the diversity is maybe superficial only.”

The governor appointed three judges Monday in Pinellas and Pasco counties.
