One of the area's largest medical providers has been awarded a major grant to continue to help heal the poor.
South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta has been awarded $1.4 million from the Indigent Care Trust Fund. The money will help provide medical care both at the hospital, and places like "LAMP" which helps people with prescriptions, dental care and eye problems.
Officials with LAMP say even though the grant helps make medical care possible, local folks still need to help out, whether its a financial donation or volunteering.
