A Tallahassee garbage collector makes a potentially explosive discovery in Killearn. Police say when he opened a trash can to dump its contents, a grenade rolled out.
A part of Shamrock was shut down. Folks who live here were told to stay inside, and a robot was sent in to retrieve what police say was a potentially explosive grenade.
Officers say the pin was still in the grenade, but it appeared to be a World War Two era weapon, which officers say can be very unpredictable. Bomb experts examined it with a tiny camera mounted atop a robot and ultimately retrieved it without incident.
The grenade was taken away and blown up, so it's hard to say whether the grenade was truly dangerous or if it was just an innocuous piece of memorabilia.
