There's some progress in one of Leon County's longest running disputes.
A special meeting was called Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Fallschase development.
The property owner, Lamar Bailey, and developers AIG Baker presented the county commission with an agreement that would ease traffic tensions with two new roads and a right of way on Buck Lake Road, and also what Commissioner Proctor calls a “biggie,” putting the lake bottom in Leon County hands.
Bill Proctor says, “You heard them give that lake bottom away for free, which before was an $11 million problem of who is going to pay for the lake bottom; we've been able to negotiate and get that lake bottom for free."
Ron Carlson of AIG Baker says, "We have adopted a site plan that incorporates vested interest that goes with the property, yet meets the needs of the county, we believe meets the needs of the county."
The first public hearing is scheduled for October 5, the day before developers are inviting Leon County commissioners to walk the Fallschase property.
