It was a sad day in Florida's lighthouse history. The Cape St. George Lighthouse collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico.
The beacon of light was recently declared the "most endangered" lighthouse in Florida. The landmark tilted about 10 degrees and soared 74 feet into the sky.
Eight years and several hurricanes later, the lighthouse finally gave in at about 1:30 Friday.
