About 3,000 people delighted in the musical talent of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at Maclay Gardens Sunday night.

"Pops in the Gardens" raised $35,000 for the Friends of Maclay Gardens.

This is the eighth year the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra has played for the event.

The director of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Fabio Mechetti, says, "The Jacksonville Symphony is now in its 56th season. It's composed of 56, 52 fully professional musicians. We play in one of the best halls in the country, Jacobi Symphony Hall in downtown Jacksonville."

Organizers say the money raised at the event will help fund a new visitor center at Maclay Gardens.
