Coolidge Police Officer Arrested

Coolidge Police Chief James Wright says one of his officers is being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

Chief Wright says 26-year-old Police OFC Walker Conley was arrested by GBI agents for reportedly failing to turn in property he seized from someone he arrested.

Chief Wright says Conley faces charges of theft by taking and violation of his oath of office.

The police chief declined to go on camera, but in a statement to WCTV says that OFC Conley is suspended until the charges are disposed of by the court system.

Neither the Police Department nor GBI is saying what the property was that he failed to turn over, but the investigation by GBI is ongoing.
