Tallahassee's Trashy Little Secret

Tallahassee's recycling bins are starving, and they took their case to the Old Florida Capitol in protest. More than 100 bins lined up along Monroe, picket signs in their lids. Their non negotiable demands: cans, plastic bottles and newspapers.

They are shining a light on what they call Tallahassee’s trashy little secret, that fifty percent of trash is recyclable, yet most of it is going to the overfed garbage can.

"They've got those smart carts in their yards and they're being ignored instead of people separating out their recyclables, they're all going to the garbage cans."

DeLoach says more than 60,000 homes and businesses have a recycling bins sitting outside, so she encourages you to use them.
