A Tallahassee city commissioner affirms his position on the issue.
Commissioner Andrew Gillum says he's listened to both sides of the issue. After heavily weighing opinions, he told us he's decided to support for the coal plant referendum, adding he wants to make sure the city has all of its options on the table.
Andrew Gillum says, "Our intent is simply this: if this coal plant is going to be built 50 miles away from the boundaries of Leon County, will we make the decision to be a participant in it?"
A coal plant in Jacksonville is similar to the one proposed in Taylor County.
Not all commissioners support the project. Allan Katz strongly opposes it, saying it's a financial mistake for the community.
Mail-in ballots go out to Tallahassee voters Friday and are due back to the supervisor of election’s office by November 17.
