The National Safety Council offers a few tips before heading out. Make sure to feed your child; sending them out on an empty stomach will make them more tempted to snack on candy before you have inspected it.

Jacquelyn Bradham is a mother who has decided to have children over rather then sending her daughter out.
"If you have little kids like my little girl, it would be safer to have it inside instead of having her walk up and down the block, so yeah, last year there was so many kids out and there were more bigger kids then little kids."
