The Tallahassee Urban League, along with city, county and state officials are giving a local resident a house warming treat that is sure to last.
October 31 isn't just Halloween; it’s also National Weatherization Day, a day that promotes energy conservation.
Colder weather is on its way, and most residents are cranking up the thermostats, but for low income families, this isn't always an option, so the Tallahassee Urban League picked one house to weatherize for energy efficiency.
Denice Cobb, a Tallahassee resident, says, "My bathroom, central air, central heat. It went down on my electricity bill because I had cracks and holes. I don't have any cracks, no holes. I'm warm and cool."
Energy efficient homes see at least a 20 percent drop in energy usage. The Urban League hopes to weatherize more than 1,500 homes in Florida this year alone.
