Investigators, both locally and around our region, are searching for their suspect, Julonda Lecedrick Clayton, and he's considered armed and dangerous.
Lowndes County sheriff's investigators say 29-year-old Deidra Miller had just gotten off of work Tuesday morning and had picked up her four-year-old son when she ran into Julonda Lecedrick Clayton near her home on Hayes Drive.
Wanda Edwards, a Sheriff's Office investigator, says, "It looks like they got into a chase and he chased her. It appears that she was shot, we don't know if she was shot before or after she wrecked her car into a tree. At this point, we're looking for him."
He is 28-year-old Julonda Clayton, 5’10”, 170 pounds. He was last seen driving a Chevy Avalanche pickup truck with the Florida license plate X25 BTA.
Investigators think that after shooting Miller, Clayton then pulled Miller's four-year-old son from the wrecked car and took him to his daycare where teachers noticed someone else's blood on the boy's clothing and called 9-1-1, which led to the search for Clayton.
Co-workers of the victim are saddened beyond belief.
Edward Denson, the victim's co-worker, says, "We're extremely heart broken. Words can't express the deep pain the whole company is feeling right now. She was loved by everyone, management, all the employees, everyone."
And while Miller's friends and family continue to cope with the loss, investigators around the southeast will search for their suspect.
Deidra Miller is from a famous familyin Lowndes County; her brother, Randall Godfrey, is a starting linebacker for the NFL's San Diego Chargers, so this murder has saddened many lives around south Georgia.
Deidra Miller had known Clayton for some nine years, and while he has a criminal record, authorities do not know at this time what caused him to go after Miller Tuesday morning.
