Tallahassee to Honor Rosa Parks

Flags throughout the capital city were flying at half staff Wednesday in honor of Parks. She passed away on October 24 at the age of 92.

Her refusal to give up her seat on an Alabama bus 50 years ago changed the course of history, and Tallahasseeans intend to recognize her contribution Thursday.

Victer Muhammad, minister, said, "Made a momentous mark on [the] world, not just black people or Americans, but the world, and the purpose of tomorrow's event is to let the 35 and under crowd know what Mrs. Parks meant here in Tallahassee."

The memorial tribute to the life of Rosa Parks will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Anderson AME Church in Tallahassee. The church is located at 1307 Harlem Street.
