For many people, the holidays are a time spent with family.
Ann Emperley says, "It's especially hard for my daughter, ‘cause she's not understanding why her father's not here."
SSGT Jacob Emperly was sent to Iraq in July.
Emperly says, "Last year he was gone to Kuwait for six or seven months and he's gone on deployments all the time."
And so goes the story of a service member, sacrificing time with loved ones so we can sleep at night. This year the United States Postal Service wants to help ensure our servicemen and women overseas receive their holiday packages and get them on time. It's not the same as being home, but it is a piece of home.
Jacquline Carter is with the United States Postal Service and says, "You don't have to come into the Post Office to pick up the pack, we will deliver it to you and all you need to do is put the Christmas gifts in it."
The pack contains everything you need to ship your packages, everything from tape to the customs forms.
"There's a lot of wives right now who don't have the time to go out and get the boxes and get the packages, so if it's given to them where they can pick up just one thing and get it to the Post Office, I think it's great," said Emperley.
To guarantee your package gets there on time, you should send it by the 12th of November.
