Carl Whaley says, "The oysters are not Apalachicola Bay oysters."
They're not local because red tide has plagued the area, threatening the oyster industry and oyster lovers, so they're playing it safe along the bay, offering up fresh Texas oysters. It's a slight change that many aren't bothered by.
Samantha and Terry, Apalachicola residents, say, "You eat seafood everyday. It's not so much the seafood, but the festivities, the seafood is a plus."
It’s a plus that continues to lure visitors year after year to a tiny village with huge seafood flare. The Florida Seafood Festival continues Saturday and wraps up on Sunday around 4 p.m.
