The Leon County School system is reminded of its Critical Instance Plan in light of the recent shooting at a Tennessee high school.
What if something such as that were to happen at our local schools?
The head of school security for Leon County says the district has an emergency plan for such violent incidents.
The critical instance plan prepares teachers and administrators by training them how to deal with violent crimes, bombs and weapons.
Charlie Brooks, Interim Safety Officer for Leon County Schools, says, "We are very confident that the training our administrators and teachers, and our school law enforcement personnel are well trained on how to handle just about any situation that arises."
Brooks says safety measures also include having a great relationship with the Leon County Sheriff's Office, school resource officers, and DARE officers. He adds communication with students is also critical.
